A Compulsory Purchase Order is a forced sale of land typically by a State or Semi State body. Compulsory acquisition of land takes place in Ireland to allow a public infrastructure project to proceed for the greater and common good.

The Mayo County Council has recently made a Compulsory Purchase Order entitled “N60 Balla to Claremorris Road- Realignment at Heathlawn”.
